Christmas Tree '11

It seems like, "This is the best Christmas tree we every had!".

At least this is what Rob and Jennifer says. (Every year! LOL)

A Polish pottery ornament, the sun from from El Paso when we were there. the leaf is from the 911 Museum, this leaf is from one of the trees to go to the 911 Memorial Park.

The sheep from New Zealand, and the cute blue one next to it, 1983 for Matthew .

Top right Missouri ornament, below a doggie one that Spice didn't eat. To the right we bought this in New Mexico, and to the left from Germany a wonderful gift from Jason. That little one down on the right, something Heather made.

Texas Mistletoe and a 2010 Hershey memorable piece.

Yes, our tree is real! All our ornaments are very special. They bring out memories, of where we have been.

Our newest one is our flat Heather, at least this year. She couldn't make it home from school. Her smiles and giggles are missed.
Family seems to be going away.

Clam Shell Quilt

This is how it started two years ago.

Yes, two years ago I saw this in a quilting book and I had to make this quilt.

I first hand sewed the clams edges. This was great for long trips.

After sewing all the edges, I then started hand sewing them together.

After all the clams were stitched together, I sandwiched the top, batting and the back. And stitched the quilt together. I sewed each clam shell.

I thought I was making a lap quilt, little did I know it turned in to a bed quilt.

I love the puffiness!

I love the colors.

This took me two years, from start til end. I didn't work on it during the summer months, It was to warm to have this quilt on my lap. But when it got cooler, it was nice and cozy. This is a quilt Im NOT giving this away.
This is a keeper.

Home Made Cranberry Sauce

I love this time of season when bags of cranberries are out for the picking. Instead of opening a can of cranberry sauce and dumping it out in a bowl. I make my own, it is so EASY!

You'll need;
1/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 pkg fresh cranberries, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1 medium apple(chopped), 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Mix the first five ingredients together in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave on high for nine minutes.
Stir.

Add in nuts.
Stir.

This makes a quart.

Refrigerate before serving. You can make this a day head.
Thank goodness cranberries can be frozen, I make this any time of year. It's great as a side dish.

Veterans Day Parade 2011

The sun was out and it was windy!
But the parade went on, starting with the post Color Guard.

Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy and everyone in between was there.

Our High School Band, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts

The Masons
(Rob's Lodge he belongs too).

Shriner's too!
They had fun on these bikes riding on the 2 side wheels.lol

And even our neighbor !
All different bikers, even the Freedom Riders were there.
God Bless America!

Give respect to those who fought and Died for our freedom...and give honor to those who still are! Bless those who have sacrificed so much! there's no greater gift for the sake of freedom. May God protect our troops with Angels of those that served before them. This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. Thank you to all of our veterans and active duty military.

Even more Crumbs

Will this ever end?
I'm obsess in make these everyday. I feel like I'm getting no where.
Well I added something else to the crumbs. If you notice above, BUTTON HOLES! This came from a duvet I tore up and have been using it up every where.

I only had seven of these, I think..... I thought sewing some buttons on the button holes would look good.
I like them.

Here they are mixed with a few more crumbs I made. Oh, those 2 nice stars are from a lap quilt I made trying to use up scraps again.

I have them separated 16 in each stack. So I have 128 6 inch squares made. I wanted to make a quilt about 96 x 98.

So I would have to make 144 more, I'm thinking I'll might use some sashing in between.
Now to decide what color.....

More Crumb Along!

We were suppose to make log cabins, I made 6,but I think I'm going to make more with other colors.

Here are some laid out.The original plan was a smaller quilt, I'm plan on making a larger quilt for our bed, queen size.

I do like the trim I added to some blocks.

I have a few more squares to make, so I better get busy. I have seen some quilters making letters around the outside, even making a disappearing 9 square. I haven't decided what I want to do yet. It's still not to late to join, just hit the button on the right and check out how to make one.

Oktober Fest

We went to Hermann MO for Oktober Fest with the family and friends.

It was a beautiful day to enjoy the sights and the wine.

Yes, Jennifer was taking pictures of everything. Maybe because Mick lent Jennifer his lens. She was in love!

More Crumbs!

This week was triangles.
This past Saturday was awesome, my dh went to collect wood for the wood furnace for this winter. Jennifer went to work, so it was me and my sewing machine for the day.

I also made some crumbs.

More trim on some blocks.

I've looking at everyone elses, theres is so neat and mine is just thrown together.

They are wonky LOL

I am liking them, I need to work on my other scraps.

Looking forward to tomorrow, our next challenge.

My Wobbly Table

Look at this $5 thrift find I had to have. It was wobbly, marked up and scratched.

I fell in love withe shape, and right away I knew it was perfect for Jennifer, and know what I wanted to do with it. Something similar what I did for her ceiling fan in her room.

Spray painted it a flat white.

Painted everything but the top.

Took down my favorite book for the pages, ripped them out and Modge Podged the top.

I did the same on Jennifer's ceiling fan. She loves to read, so I thought this was her. She loves her fan and loves this table.

I like it myself, to cute of a night stand.

Jennifers Homcoming 2011

Our youngest of four, a senior. She is having a outstanding year in everything she does. One surprise was being nominated for Homecoming Queen.

She is our wild child, all in a good way. She enjoys life, and she shows it. She is alot of fun with us and her friends love her so.

There is proud Dad.

Jennifer in the parade, a little nervous, she is not a show boat so this Homecoming thing was out of her box. But she new how Rob wanted to walk her accross the football field.

Jenn gave us the parade wave, just for us.

She didn't win, but look at that smile, she is so happy!

Crumb Along Part 2

First week we did the flying geese here. This week we did Hearts and Stars. I know my hearts turned out kinda a funky. Thank goodness for this crumb along. Nothing has to be perfect.

I made three hearts, yhea there wonky. The one on the right is my favorite.

My stars what can I say. Some of then I'm happy with, others....I don't know what they look like.

My favorite is is top left.I don't now what the others look like.

Ok the funkiest one is top right next to Mistys tail. Or is it the bottom left? What can I say.

First Vintage Sheet Quilt

I found a Blog that I started me on a new collection.
The Vintage Sheets Blog

I loved the soft colors these sheets have.
I was now on the hunt. Sheets and pillow cases, I want them all.

Not much of a pattern, just squares.

Even the back is a vintage sheet.

I love these colors so relaxing.

I also machine quilted the top, this was a first for me. I do want to learn more on free motion quilting.

I need to work on quilt labels, I'm a little lazy on this.

I'm still collecting!

Crumb Along With Me

As I was surfing the Blogs I found Jo's Country Junction. She is making a quilt out of scraps! I have a lot so I thought I would join in.

She is calling it,"Crumb Along With Me"

When Rob found out the Eagles were playing the Rams in St Louis, he bought tickets immediately.

It was the opening day of football, and also it was Patriots Day. Ten years after.

During half time the pee wees played on the field, it was so cute to watch them.

Also they had a dedication for 9/11.
This flag was big as the field.
They also had a Navy Solider that sang the National Anthem. He hit that note, he was incredible.

Even the Players held the flag.

Fireman walked in the flag.

It was emotionally watching them walk in.

Rob and Jennifer loved routing there team on.

We painted our faces for Patriots Day.

Well, Rob painted his whiskers.

Kitchen Towels or Pillows?

There are times when you find the perfect hand towel and you just have to get it.
But why should it be used to wipe your hands?

This one I picked up in D.C. at the Smithsonian. Perfect for the camper! It was to pretty. The gingham on the bottom, real cross stitch framing the map. I thought it would be more sufficient as a pillow for the camper.
Perfect!

This one I found at Cracker Barrel. I love the colors, it matched the inside camper.
There was a lot of space up top, so I added a twill and a couple of buttons.

Labor Day Weekend

Love long weekends, it's even better when we go camping and the weather is great! Friday and Saturday , it was in the 100's. Too hot!
We had a bad storm that night and it brought in cooler weather for the rest of the weekend.
We went back to River View Campground . If you check out the pics from last time you'll see how low the water is on the river.

We took Spice for a walk on the river bed. Couldn't do this before because it was under water.
This day was so hot she kept walking in and out of the river. I think she enjoyed it more then us.

You can see how low the water is. There was no current.

I thought this tree was pretty neat with the mushrooms

Looking down to the dam. Up center is the strip, where they have small shops, bars and places to eat.

They main reason I went with Rob to DC, was because it was only 2 1/2 hours from my grand kids. After he was done with his work and me with my sight seeing, we left for PA.

My oldest son Jason who lived in Canada with his family took a big step and moved to the US for better medical for Joseph, who has mild autism. I'm so proud of Jason and Piera for sacrificing their lives for their child.

DC Trip

Rob was going on a business trip to DC, and asked me if I wanted to come along with him. He said ,"It's only 2 1/2 hours from our 4 grand kids."

No brainier, I was on my way.

I wanted to check out the Smithsonian Museums. On my way you never know what you'll find at the capitol.
Air and Space Museum, amazing.

The first Smithsonian Museum, called the Castle.

Whenever Rob and I go to the East Coast, our favorite things to eat is pizza and sea food.

Right around the corner from our Hotel was Hanks Oyster Bar, with 4 choices! So we got a dozen, 2 each. Decided which one we liked and got another dozen.

YUM!!

The funny thing the next night we tried a Indian Restaurant, and went back to Hanks Oyster Bar for dessert. Half a dozen oysters.

China Town , lot of Restaurants.

Could you imagine having your one of your quilts hanging in the Smithsonian museum?

Behind the White house was the vegetable garden. I need to hire this people with mine.

Another Locker Hooking Project

My second Locker Hooking rug I made!

Remember my first one here!

Like the first one I collected sheets and pillow cases and ripped them into 1 inch strips.

There is a good tutorial here which shows you how to Locker Hook.

Your thinking pink and green!
My bedroom walls are a spring green. I did that for my dh, that's how I got away with the pink colors.
LOL

I put this on his side of the bed and he comments, "It's pink!".

I said, "No, it's green".

I love the feel of it under my feet, nice and cozy.

The pattern was free hand, I didn't want it to have perfect shapes since the colors were off too.

Now to make another one just like this. To go on my side of the bed.

This craft is very easy, the hardest part is not to annoy the family with the ripping sound.

June and July Banner

I know I'm a little late posting this, no excuse.

Lazy to take photos and post.

My watermelon is a little crooked, but I like the red strips that made it up.
"The ant that got a piece!"

My husband helped me cut the ants out.
So he thinks this is the best banner of them all.
I just ironed the seeds on, no stitching. I thought that would have been way to much. I think I made a good choice.

It's a little quirky but I like it!

I realized I never showed you the backs of my banners. I thought they're banners no one will see the back as a quilt. I started using old sheets. Not vintage sheets.

( I collect them)

My loops are made from scraps. I'm happy with them.

July Banner------
I was not fond of the July Banner in the book. But I remembered I had this Blue Star Banner, and thought this would be perfect for the door.

I used different white strips for the backing.

I'm happy with the outcome.

I'm now working on the August Banner, I'm hoping to be done by the end of the month.

I have a few more months and I'm done with this project.

The Villages in Florida

While we were visiting down in Florida we had a visit with Dave and Pam. The live very near The Villages.

This place, I should say town, is a retirement community.

In stead of driving cars around, they drive golf carts!!

Yes, golf carts.
You can see the flag and sand trap here.
They live on the golf courses. Would you believe they have over 800 hundreds holes and they still don't have enough in the winter time.

I think that Spanish moss is so Florida.

Here they are parked on the streets.

Yes this is a golf cart we saw in one of the stores.

Sweet isn't it?

You really got to check this place out, we visited the New England Theme. They also have the Spanish Theme and they are building a Country Western Theme.

My Antique Book Cover

As you all know we do a lot of traveling and camping with our 5th wheel.

When we reminisce on our travels we (me) usually forgets some of the details.

Well over at Just Something I Made

Cathe Holden, was nice enough to share a copy of this antique book here
Bought a cheap journal, printed out the book covers and label. I trimed it up a bit.

Modge Podge the new cover on the book.

I love the way it turn out. I brought it with us to our Florida trip. Jotted down times we stopped, where we stayed, what we did during the day, places we visted and people we met.

Of course labeled it too!

Ormund Beach, FL

We went to the east coast!!!!!!The ocean!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coming from the middle of the US, this was a big deal.

Mom took us to Ormund Beach, about a mile from Daytona Beach, much more peaceful then the famous Daytona Beach.

Rob's favorite girls, 1 missing. hehe

Pool Time Fun!

It was great spending time at the pool in Florida in front of Gram and Greatmas condo. Their was no one there. In May all the snow birds went home.

We were enjoying the pool while Rob went golfing with his brother Dave.
The girls were loving it!

It was refreshing, not to cold and not to warm.

It was so relaxing!!!!

My NEW Necklace Holder

Below is a section cut from a floor board Rob put down in the basement.

He saved them for me. I took 2 of these and glued them together with Gorilla Glue, (my new best friend).

I then took my special book of special pages, and Modge Podge them to the front,

and the back. As you can see I used the taps from a soda can. Bent them a little and glued them with my new special friend.

I also glued (glue gun) the lace around the edge.

Found a few knobs at a thrift store, love the glass look.

Hooks from another thrift store, I sprayed them with white, they were a ugly brown.

You like the pearls? They are buttons.

Another glass knob.

Out of my scrap booking clutter, I pulled the floral paper and ripped and more Modge Podge.

Put it all together and what do you have ?

Necklace Holder!

The necklace in the center, with the ring on the bottom is what Heather made for me when I used to wear reading glasses.

I Love It!!!!

I'm so happy with it!!

The pic above the holder is a pic of me and my grandmother I made. It's very special to me, as was she.xo

Mystery Quilt 3 and 4

I chose the border, double squares and another border, for part 4.

Jalapenos!!!!

What do you do with extra peppers?

Make Jalapeno Jelly, Pickled Jalapenos and Poppers on the grill!

Poppers

Take stems and seeds out.

Add small chicken pieces in peppers, add cream cheese, wrap in bacon with tooth pick and grill until bacon is done. Yum!

Pickled Jalapenos
You'll need:
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
5 or 6 jalapenos, sliced very thinly
How to make it:
Combine the vinegar, water, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan and heat until the liquid just begins to simmer. Set aside for 5 minutes to cool. Place the peppers slices in a seal able jar and pour in the liquid over the peppers. These are ready to use almost immediately.(give them at least 20 minutes of soaking) and kept covered in the fridge.
Jalapeno Jelly
you'll need:
3/4 pound whole jalapeno peppers(about 12 peppers)
6 cups sugar
2 cups cider vinegar
2 3-oz pouches liquid pectin
10 drops green food color if desired
Wash and halve peppers length wise. Remove stems and seeds. In a food processor or blender, blend peppers and half of the vinegar until smooth. In a 6 to 8-qt sauce pan, combine sugar, pepper mixture and remaining vinegar. Bring mixture to a full rolling biol, stirring constantly. Biol hard for 10 min, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in liquid pectin. Return to a full rolling biol and biol for 1 min, stir in constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in food color. Skim foam, if necessary. Immediately fill hot sterilized half-pint jars, leaving 1/4 in head space. Wipe jar tops and threads clean. Place hot lids on jars and screw bands on firmly. Process in boiling water canner for 5 min.
What do you with the jelly?
spread soft cream cheese on a plate, top with jelly, and enjoy with crackers. This jelly is NOT hot!

Rob was out back and he heard this tic tic tic tic tic. He looked up the electric pole and he sees this.

There was a nest of them.

Oh yhea last year a squirrel got into the electric box, early one morning we saw a bright light and a BANG in our bedroom. And the electric went out.

Hmm! should we call the electric company? Rob checked another pole.

While we were in Taladega we walked the booths of the sponsors of the racers.

One was the National Guard.

Of course Rob got all excited, went up to the soldier's (EOD) and started asking questions about the robots.

They knew nothing about them.

Camping and Exploring

We went back to River Front Camp Ground.

It wasn't a great weekend to camp being in the 50's & low 60's, and cloudy. But no rain. We found out the Bagnell Dam was open with free tours this weekend. It's the second time it has been opened since 9/11.

We took advantage of the tour and went with it.
This dam was made in the 1920's in about 18 months. They flooded so many towns and made the Lake of the Ozarks.

Some water trickling down.

Couldn't take any pictures on the inside, it was very impressive with the all the workings.

Mean while back at the camp ground standing on the bridge, over the stocked pond .

Looking in the other direction on the bridge.

Look at the roots on this tree in the river. There were a few trees like this.

There was a few of these types of trees too. It looked like 3-4 trees grew into each other.

See the hole in the bottom of this tree?

You can see right through it. Strange huh?

Welcome April!

My little polka dot rain boots, filled with spring flowers. As you can see the flowers are stitched funky. I was messing with the different stitches on my sewing machine. I don't have many on mine. I bought the machine 4 years ago for $89.

More funky stitches on the pretty flowers.

I love the colors with the blue back ground.

Ta-Da! The outside border are in rainbow colors. I found out I'm very picky. Get changing my mind on which pattern I wanted.

I'm loving these.

Bob's Bot Brew

Allot of people don't know but Rob is loving his NEW job working with Robots. And the rest of you didn't know he was really BIG in making beer in Australia.

When he reached the states he slowed down a little, allot. He was caught up in school , retiring from the Army, reentering the civilian life, and staring a new job. He loves to make labels for his beer, and give them to close friends. He found this on line, it was perfect because he has one like it. His first Bot Beer! Not to shabby, it bubbled when it was suppose too. So we knew it was going to be a good batch. Nothing like cracking open a home brew and hearing that sound. I hope he continues his happy he does enjoy the out come. Broast!!

Millers Cave

We knew there was a cave on post, but we had NO idea it was this great!

People have been asking us if we have been to Millers Cave on post for years..

To get to this cave wasn't easy. We had to go down a very hilly cliff to get to this cave.

The whole on the right is a window.

Part of the front of the cave , I thought this was great. Here is looking through the window at the front of the cave.

Looking back the widow on the left now, and the entrance on the left. You can see how huge this was.

Check out this Black Walnut tree, its maybe over a hundred years old.The other side of the tree, I thought this was so odd.

Here is Rob on the other side of the front cave. Had to go through a tiny hole to get there.

It was a like a puzzle, trying different patterns. I liked this one.

I walked into a Fabric Store an saw a Locker Hooking Rug.

I was hooked! :~)

I can use up fabric scraps and old sheets.

Loving it.

Recycle.

I love the way it turned out.

I like it so much I'm making two more for our bedroom, for the sides of our beds. I'll try a different pattern with this one.

Using a bunch of old sheets I have, and can't use anymore.

Recycle.

Heathers Castle

One of Heathers good friend has a little girl who is turning two today

It's a princess theme.

So what does she do?

Paint a castle for the little two year old princess.
Love the shading.

She outline with a purple Sharpie.

She raised the gheso, to give it a 3D effect.

I love it!

Told her she needs to make more.

The Grand Kids Wall

I'm sure that every Grandparent has pictures of there Grand kids some where in their house.

Let me share mine.

I now have four grandchildren, two boys and two girls.

Ranging from almost 2 1/2 years to 6 months old.
Joseph two years and three months.
Julian the youngest six months and 2 days old.
Lelia ,the oldest, two years and 5 months old.
Adalyn, seven months old.

I was so lucky to see them all four of them within the last two weeks of December.

You see the girls live in Pennsylvania, and the boys live Montreal Canada.

We live in Missouri.

My Grand kids wall is special to me,

when I walk down the hall, I can see my babies.

I can also see them from the living room.

I'm thinking in the future I'll have to take another wall and add more photos.

I hope you enjoyed them as much as I do.

Our Back Yard

I want to take you on a tour of our back yard.

We took the dogs for a walk in the back.

If you look straight up, you'll see the back of our house.

Yes, deer tracks.

Max was going crazy sniffing everything. It was hard to find a print with out dog prints.
More deer prints, there must have been 3-4 deer.

We have little over 2 acres, and this part we haven't touched. It's great to walk the dogs or just explore nature in it's peacefulness.

My First Mystery Quilt

The start of my Mystery Quilt.

I'm starting a Mystery quilt with the Quilting Club.

I have never done one before so I'm very excited.
First direction.
Twenty-one inch block.
I could have done a house, pineapple, star or what ever.
All I know it will be tilted.
I've been wanting to make a new quilt for our bed. That's why I chose these colors.
Why dollies?
I have a thing about them, and I collect them. So I thought the center panel would be perfect for them.
I love the roses, and since Rob sleeps with me. I went with the green and plaid, on the guy side. I thought they went together perfectly.
I love the rose buds!

I'm exciting about making this soon to be queen size quilt for our bed.

The dollies are perfect in our bedroom. I like that English Garden theme.

Perfect combination!

I'm really getting the hang of this. Finding short cuts to make them quicker.
I'm so proud of my zig-zag stitches.

You see how bad they were, I didn't know why the top was like this and underneath was perfect.

I started playing with the tension knob.

And came up with this.

Go figure. All these years.

I only bought one fabric piece for this piece.. The rest came from my stash. The backing is from a old bed sheet. Use them up some way right?

We were so busy last year, that I had a hard time picking out just one photo for each month

We had a light dusting of snow this month, thank goodness NO blizzards.
February
Our new addition to our family.
Someone dropped off this dog at the end of our street, and he adopted us. We now have two dogs and two cats. Max is our outside dog, also he is Rob's rescue dog.
March
Jennifer became part of the Honor Society, of course we're so proud of everything she does.

April
Rob and I took a trip in our camper to Taladaga with a few friends. We're not NasCar fans but just the idea of spending time with friends for a few days, it was a great time.

May
Starting a new garden this year, I like the idea

June

Would you believe Rob, the president of his Class, after 25 years, finally had a chance to go to his class reunion?

We went back with the tour of Hackettstown,(girls even chimed in with there high lights). It's always great to go back home, and see family and friends.

July
Yes, New York City! One of the surprises we shared with the girls.Two full days in the city. Oh yhea Rob changed jobs, he now works for Qualis. A contractor working with Robots.

August

Rob and I went to Hermann Missouri with the camper. What a blast we had, Seven wineries, tasting it all, and enjoying music and people.

The beginning of August another grandson Juilan AlfonsoLotito arrived in our world. If you want to have a good laugh check out Spice playing hide-and-seek. LOL

September

The Eagles Fan in our family,(not me, I'm a Giants Fan) had the opportunity to see a Eagles pre game against the Chiefs in Kansas City for Free! We spent the night and enjoyed Kansas City, MO., with the family. We had a great time.

October
Rob and I went on another camping trip to HaHa Tonka Park in MO, and enjoyed the many trails they had to offer. We tried a new one we haven't tried yet.

Oh, we saw a copper head snake, I was DONE with the walk then, however we had a little more to go.

November

Rob went on another Business trip , this time it was to Ft Lee. It wasn't far from Fort Monroe where he was once before, and it so beautiful he wanted to be a tour guide. It's a very old Military Post which they're tearing down! They have many floods there, and it co$t allot of our money to clean it up. It's a amazing post with a great history.

December

End of the year was not a happy one for people on Fort Leonard Wood. New Years Eve morning a tornado went through post as a F3. Bad part was it went through a housing area. Luckily NO one was hurt. Thank goodness it was a holiday season and many people were away for the holidays.

We had a great December we met our two new grand sons for the first time from Canada, and I got to see my grand daughters during a surprise visit for Matthews Graduation for a CAD degree.

Our year could be boring to some, or very odd to others.However, these are the things we enjoy and love.

To everyone I wish you a Happy-Happy New Year!

Bragging!!!!

I know it's been awhile since I have blogged. It's been too busy here. Jennifer had pneumonia, then I had it. Wiped me out for a week. Trying to get caught up after the week out, and Rob was gone to El Paso. He came back Thursday and I left Saturday for the East Coast to surprise my son on his graduation for Computer Aided Drafting. (another Blog)Visited, came home on Sunday with many delays at the airport. Getting ready for my oldest son and family coming from Canada in 2 days with his family,(my 2 grandsons). Getting to old for all this excitement.

On that note, the best part is I was with my four of my grand kids within two weeks. Meeting 3 of them for he first time!
I feel like a really and truly a real grandma now.

Leila the oldest grand child (2 years 3 months). Matthew made this for his class. Popsicle sticks and tooth picks. It's very strong, she sat on the house and it didn't break.

Joseph (2 years and 1 month) . Found out while he was with us he has a major hearing loss. His parents are ready for the future. We're so excited!

Monthly Banner-October

I found this kit for monthly banners, I had to have it!

This is the first one I finished for the month of October.

I worked on appliques, something new to me. Ladies at the quilt club told me how to use freezer paper also.
Cute little bats and spiders.
This was allot of fun looking through my stash for scraps, and shopping for some theme fabric.

We also did a fabric swap at the club to get a variety of different fabric.

Little spider web, with a big smile.

I have a regular sewing machine. So I don't have much to choose from for fancy stitches.(Not much at all)

I think it turned out great!

I started the Quilting club once again with the Spouses Club. Every other week we're making a quilt for charity.

This a baby quilt that will be given to the hospital on post.

My Bathroom Window

I've been needing curtains in our Master Bathroom since we moved in. Well we are waiting to tile the floor, fix the ceiling and paint the room.

I got tired of waiting.
I collected a few hankies and sewed them on a cotton valiance. We have NO neighbors behind us, nothing but trees.
Besides I like to look outside and see the animals, squirrels, birds, deer having fun.

This is another thrift find!

It's a glass frog usually it goes for $7 and up.

My Scrappy Flying Geese

I've always liked the Flying Geese quilt pattern, and wanted to make one.

I used my small scraps and sewed them together, everything from my stash. I have a hard time tossing them. LOL
This is the back of the quilt, I found this fabric at the thrift store. Nice cotton weaving for the back, so I didn't use any batting.

I love the scrappiness of the quilt.

I found another suit case this one was for $3, and it's in great condition!
I also found this shade. I needed a new one for the spare room, Jennifer took the other one for her new lamp. I also found 2 small buckets.

One bucket I'm taking to the camper. It will be nice for an extra pair of hands to carry spices and what nots outside to grill.

Kansas City Trip

We stopped by the World War I Memorial, and we had to go in.

It was a great Museum.

Did you know Kansas City is the second city to have the most fountains in the world?

This is the old train center, I was amazed with the ceiling. It's gorgeous.

Okay, during half time the girls went down to the tunnel, hoping to get closer to the players.

Well they sure did!

Bunch of the players gave them high fives. When they got back Jennifer starting crying. She just let loose.

Spice likes to visit our neighbor.

"The Rednecks", they have trash all over there yard. TV, washer , toilet and more one there porch and yard.
Spice gets into things and brings it back to the house.

I looked out the kitchen window and what do I see?

A crazy dog with a box on her head!

Jennifer and I kept calling her to come home.

She would stop, listen and walks some more.

We couldn't stop laughing.

Our Trip to Germany

Okay, not exactly Germany, but that's what they call it.

This is Hermann Missouri, a little German town.
With 5-7 wineries in driving distance of each other.
This is one here Hermann Hof, they also have a Fest Halle for functions like weddings.

The building in the center, bottom left is the room we stayed in for my 50th birthday 2 years ago. Do you see the little grape vines growing on the hill side?

Yes a Brewery! Of course we stopped in and Rob got a sampler made of 6 different beers. (small glasses)

Check it out , yes it's from Bamberg Germany. Where we were stationed, and Jennifer was born.

The view from Oak Hills Winery, isn't it beautiful. You have to travel a gravel road a few miles to come to this. The view is worth it. We brought our cooler of munchies to eat with a bottle of wine. Crackers, a few different cheeses, grapes and summer sausage. It was so relaxing especially with great company.

So sweet.

Some wine barrels here in the wine cellar. It was nice and cool here.

Stone Hill Winery here, they had live music here. So we bought a bottle of wine and relaxed for a while.

This our camp site, only $30 a night for a full hook up. Better then paying over $175 a night at the Inns here.

Is't this wild how the grill is hooked up to the camper?

It's great!

Rob is cooking up some fish for the tacos, yum.

You like my little souvenir?

I love making our camper a home.

Spice enjoying camping too! She loves it. Whenever she watches us get ready she stays very close to the truck, waiting for Rob to pick her up for the trip.

Of course she used 2 fat quarters. I kinda took her tutorial a little differently on this one.

Cry Baby Camp Ground

On the road again!
We stopped at Cry Baby Camp Ground, it was surrounded by bean plants, but they weren't ready yet.

We splurged and bought oysters for dinner, you know they 're really not easy to open!

But they tasted so good! A little lemon and hot sauce is all you need.

Yum!

The river was so cool and calming.

We put our chairs in the water and relaxed, sipping on cold drinks, and having a nice conversation. We needed this bad, just to do nothing and enjoy nature.

Can it get any better?

We watched the fish jumping, and deer across the river getting a drink of water.

They even have these screened in cabins. Just bring your own sleeping bags and your set.

Rob and I are enjoy pulling our camper, and enjoying our travels around Missouri. We're finding allot of places just around the house. Meeting new people, and just being together.

Just like the first time!

The girls had a blast in New York and Jennifer still wants to live there. But it was time to leave and head on back to Pennsylvania.

Spent few nights at my mom and dads.

Tafilowsix came to visit. LOL

Yhea all 4 kids in tow, also there visit from North Carolina.

Alex also stopped by, for a game of touch football.

I know he was hurting the next day.

The day was not hot at all it was perfect to spend out side blowing bubbles.

Or just relaxing in the shade.

Or just kicking the ball around.

Oh yhea, on our way back from New York, we stopped at our old house in Lebanon New Jersey.

The trees have grown so much on the Rosemary Lane.

It's been over 22 years since I've been here, where has the time gone?

Ground Zero and Central Park

If there was one thing I wanted to do in New York was to go to Ground Zero and pay our respects.

We were in Bamberg Germany when this happened. I remembered being glued to the tv for days.

They are busy behind this walls digging and moving the earth. We were amazed the buildings around this site. Wondering what it was like that day.

God Bless all there families.

This is what it's suppose to look like. It will have 2 pools with waterfalls on the sides. Every one's name will be carved in these pools. They will have trees around the park that will turn red about Sept 11th.

This was very touching walking through the museum.

Heather wanted to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
She was so excited to see her famous artist. Monet.

They had so many rooms of different artifacts. We didn't have enough time to see the whole thing.

This was brought here piece by piece.

Amazing.

Jennifer had to go to Central Park and see the statue of Alice and Wonderland.

Yes, she is a big fan of this movie.

She like Tim Burton's movies.

Of course she took so many photos of this. LOL

Then they shooed us away, so they could do some filming.

I have no idea who they are.

Our walk to Times Square

We took a walk to Times Square the next day, it wasn't that far from our Hotel.

Right across from our Hotel was Macy's. I was trying to visualize the Thanksgiving Parade going on.

Could you imagine?

We stopped for a cold drink at Bubba Gump. Rob is a huge fan of Forrest Gump, so this was a must. They had Forest Gump playing on the TV, over and over again. Great seafood! Got to do sea food while we were here on the East Coast. Yum!
Mawson girls in front of Time Square. Yhea, the girls HAD to stop by Forever 21, as you noticed the bag in Heathers hand. We also stopped at the on right at Times Square, it just opened up a week before and has 4 floors, and a men's department. The girls were in ahh.

We also surprised them with a show! Heather wanted to see Hair but there last show was the Sunday before and out of our price range.

They loved it, and Corbin Bleu wasn't there so the girls were even happier.

Our Trip to the Top!

Watch out the pauperize are out!
Only Rob can throw a horse shoe, hold another horseshoe and a beer.

The day after the Class Reunion we were invited to a picnic at a lake. It was great, the girls got to come and hear more stories about Rob.

Rob's 25th Class Reunion

Rob had a great time catching up with old friends. It's been 25 years for him. Being in the military he never had the time to attend a Reunion. He wasn't going to miss this one.

Here is Don Stancauish and Rob holding the football. Don passed it on to Rob, until the next time they meet again. Rob was so happy!

Giving a little speech here, it was great!

It was a great time, after it ended half the class went up to a room at the hotel and hung out for a few more hours.

I'm glad Rob finally had the chance to attend his Reunion at his old stomping grounds. EVERY TIME we go back he has to give us a tour like it was our first time there. The girls could give the tour. LOL

Our First Part of our Trip

We took two weeks off to attend Rob's 25th class reunion, visit some family and take the girls to NYC. Rob hasn't been to 1 reunion because of the military. So this time it was a must.

Our first stop was at Matthew's house in Highspire PA. We had a blast visiting our grand daughter Leila. She is so much fun, and she can say BaBa. It was a wonderful time.

We stopped at Hershey Pa, to visit Chocolate World.

We played bubbles.

Five lbs of Chocolate? Not for us.

Leila loved playing with Jennifer taking pictures of her then looking at the pictures

Check out my snazzy umbrella I found at the Thrift shop for only 50 cents!
The handle is plastic, but I love the 2 tones of color.

The inside has cloth around the spindles.

All medal tip, and fabric cover.

Isn't it to cute.

It came with a white leather case but I love showing it off with my suit cases at the end of the hallway.

I am trying to fin out more about it. I'll let you know if I find anything.
